Immediate Post-Treatment Care

Important: Follow these instructions carefully in the first 24-48 hours after your treatment.

  • Keep the treated area clean and dry for at least 24 hours
  • Avoid touching, rubbing, or scratching the treatment site
  • Apply any prescribed ointments or creams as directed by your provider
  • Wear compression garments if provided and instructed
  • Elevate the treated area when resting to reduce swelling

Activity Restrictions

Avoid for 24-48 Hours:

  • Strenuous exercise and heavy lifting
  • Hot baths, saunas, or steam rooms
  • Direct sun exposure on treated areas
  • Swimming pools or hot tubs
  • Alcohol consumption (may increase bruising)

Recommended Activities:

  • Light walking to promote circulation
  • Gentle stretching (if approved by your provider)
  • Normal daily activities that don't strain the treated area

Wound Care & Hygiene

Cleaning Instructions

  • • Use mild, fragrance-free soap
  • • Gently pat dry with a clean towel
  • • Avoid scrubbing or rubbing
  • • Keep area clean and dry

Dressing Changes

  • • Change dressings as instructed
  • • Use sterile gauze if provided
  • • Watch for signs of infection
  • • Keep bandages dry

What to Expect

Normal Side Effects

These are common and typically resolve within a few days to weeks:

  • Mild swelling, redness, or bruising at the treatment site
  • Slight tenderness or discomfort
  • Itching or mild irritation
  • Small scabs or crusting (if applicable)

When to Contact Us

Call us immediately if you experience:

  • Signs of infection (increasing redness, warmth, pus, or foul odor)
  • Excessive bleeding that doesn't stop with gentle pressure
  • Severe pain that isn't relieved by recommended pain medication
  • Fever above 100.4°F (38°C)
  • Any concerns or questions about your recovery

Medication & Pain Management

Prescribed Medications

Take all medications exactly as prescribed by your provider. Do not skip doses or stop taking medications early without consulting your doctor.

Over-the-Counter Pain Relief

If approved by your provider, you may use acetaminophen (Tylenol) for mild discomfort. Avoid aspirin or ibuprofen unless specifically recommended, as they may increase bleeding risk.

Topical Treatments

Apply any prescribed creams or ointments as directed. Use clean hands and follow the recommended frequency and amount.

Follow-Up Care

Important: Attend all scheduled follow-up appointments. These visits are essential for monitoring your recovery and ensuring optimal results.

  • Keep your follow-up appointment as scheduled (typically 1-2 weeks after treatment)
  • Bring a list of any questions or concerns you have about your recovery
  • Report any changes or issues you've noticed since your treatment
  • Continue following all after-care instructions until your provider advises otherwise
